As head coach of the University of Tennessee Lady Volunteers from 1974-2012, Summitt won eight national championships and 1,098 games, which, at the time of her retirement was the most victories in NCAA Division I history. In addition to their success on the court, Summitt’s Lady Vols also had an impressive 100% graduation rate. Summitt was enshrined in the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2000, named the Sports Illustrated Sportswoman of the Year in 2011, and in 2012 received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from Barack Obama.
