Fact: Ub Iwerks is credited with co-creating Mickey Mouse with Walt Disney in 1928. A gifted animator and Disney collaborator, Iwerks helped develop Mickey’s original visual design and animated much of the character’s earliest work. He was the principal animator on Steamboat Willie, the groundbreaking 1928 short that introduced Mickey to a wide audience.
