The Quiz: What is unusual about the title character in “Weekend at Bernie’s”?
He has three arms
He’s a corpse
He’s invisible
He’s an alien
The 1989 film “Weekend at Bernie’s” wasn’t a huge hit when it first released in theaters, but its zany plot has since been cemented in the cultural zeitgeist. When insurance agents Larry (Andrew McCarthy) and Richard (Jonathan Silverman) go to confront their boss, Bernie (Terry Kiser) about a suspected fraud, they find the businessman dead in his home. To avoid suspicion for the death, the two bumbling protagonists cart Bernie’s corpse around for the rest of the film, propping him up with sunglasses and pretending he’s still alive. Despite minimal dialogue, playing a corpse didn’t come easy to Kiser or his stunt doubles. In fact, one stuntman suffered broken ribs after a particularly dangerous scene.
The correct answer to this quiz is He’s a corpse.
