Chicago Bears
Detroit Lions
Chicago Cubs
Detroit Pistons
Fact: The Detroit Lions have been owned by the Ford family since 1963, when William Clay Ford Sr., a grandson of automotive pioneer Henry Ford, purchased the NFL franchise for $4.5 million. Following his death in 2014, ownership passed to his wife, Martha Firestone Ford, a granddaughter of tire magnate Harvey Firestone. Their daughter, Sheila Ford Hamp, took over as principal owner in 2020. The Lions remain one of the NFL’s longest-running family-owned franchises, connecting two of America’s most famous industrial dynasties.
