While Peter Sellers appeared as the iconic character Jacques Clouseau in seven movies, he was only present for the filming of six. He died before production could start on “Trail of the Pink Panther” (1982), but instead of scrapping the project, director Blake Edwards compiled much of the footage from outtakes. Sellers did skip one film during his lifetime when, after a falling out, Edwards recast his role with Alan Arkin for “Inspector Clouseau” (1968).
