Carved from a British ship of the same name, what desk has been used by nearly every U.S. president since 1880?
The Queen Mary
Mary Rose
HMS Victory
The Resolute
HMS Resolute was a mid-19th-century ship of the British Royal Navy, specially outfitted for Arctic exploration. Resolute became trapped in the ice and was abandoned in 1854. Recovered by an American whaler, she was returned to Queen Victoria in 1856. Oak timbers from the ship were later used to construct the Resolute desk, which was gifted to President Rutherford B. Hayes in 1880 as a gesture of gratitude for the rescue of Resolute. Since then, the Resolute desk has been used by nearly every American president in some capacity, with the exception of Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, and Gerald Ford.
The correct answer is The Resolute.
