So why is this answer correct? : When Wisconsin’s Aluminum Specialty Company created the Evergleam tree in 1959, it was an instant hit, selling over 150,000 units a year. Then came 1965’s “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” in which ol’ Chuck rallied against commercialism and “modern” holiday impurities, eschewing fancy artificial trees for a very humble, skimpy, real one. Demand for aluminum trees declined soon after, and by 1971, production of the Evergleam had stopped.
