Trivia: “A Charlie Brown Christmas” hurt the sales of what holiday product?
Silver Christmas lights
Plastic reindeer
Aluminum Christmas trees
Music boxes
The correct answer is Aluminum Christmas trees
So why is this answer correct? : In 1959, Wisconsin-based Aluminum Specialty Company created a cheap aluminum tree with foil needles and unveiled it at the American Toy Fair. It was a hit, and five years later, they were producing 150,000 trees per year. However, the success of 1965’s “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” which included Charlie’s quest for a “real” tree, was watched by 50% of Americans who owned a television, and the aluminum tree business immediately took a hit. By 1970, the Aluminum Specialty Company ceased production.
