Trivia: The calcaneal tendon is named after what mythical figure?
Atlas
Adam
Iris
Achilles
The correct answer is Achilles
So why is this answer correct? : Few people are familiar with the calcaneal tendon, but many know its mythological pseudonym: the Achilles’ heel. The name comes from the ancient Greek legend of Achilles, a Greek warrior and son of the sea nymph Thetis. Hoping to grant her son invulnerability, Thetis dunked Achilles in the River Styx. But because she held him by the heel, the mighty warrior grew up to have one vulnerability — a weakness eventually exploited at the Battle of Troy.
