Trivia: What is a rapscallion?
A metallic element
A mischievous person
A garden vegetable
A fundamental shift in something
The correct answer is A mischievous person
So why is this answer correct? : A rapscallion is someone who is looking for trouble. The word sounds a lot like another word for a practical joker: “rascal.” As it turns out, “rascal” actually came before “rapscallion.” “Rascal” appeared in English in the 15th century and was altered into the word “rascallion” in the 17th century. While “rascallion” didn’t quite catch on, another altered version of the word, “rapscallion,” soon emerged. Today, all of these words are used to describe a scoundrel or mischief-maker.
