The Quiz: Following the Watergate scandal, who became the 38th President?
Gerald R. Ford
Ronald Reagan
George W. Bush
Bill Clinton
Gerald R. Ford took an unconventional route to the presidency. He was first nominated by President Richard Nixon to fill the vice presidency vacancy in 1973 after Spiro Agnew resigned. Just one year later, in 1974, Ford became President when Nixon was forced to resign due to the Watergate scandal. Ford became the first President to not be elected to the vice presidency or presidency. He served one term before losing the 1976 election to Democrat Jimmy Carter.
The correct answer to this quiz is Gerald R. Ford.
