The Quiz: Which of these colors is NOT on the flag of Ireland?
Blue
White
Green
Orange
Known in Ireland as the “Bratach na hÉireann,” the modern Irish flag was first flown publicly in 1848. The white, green, and orange banner was championed by Thomas Francis Meagher, a leader of the Young Irelander movement. Before serving as a Union Brigadier General in the American Civil War, Meagher hung his preferred Irish flag in the city of Waterford, where it flew for eight days before being taken down by the British. The green of the flag represents Irish nationalism; the orange, Ireland’s Protestant minority; and the white, lasting peace between the two.
The correct answer to this quiz is Blue.
