So why is this answer correct? : “Scrooged,” a 1988 interpretation of “A Christmas Carol,” features a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo by none other than David Letterman’s band leader Paul Shaffer. In the film, Bill Murray’s character walks by a group of musicians busking on the sidewalk. Shaffer was one of them, as was jazz legend Miles Davis. The film was actually a bit of a reunion for Shaffer and Murray; in the 1970s, Murray created a “Saturday Night Live” character known as “Nick the Lounge Singer,” and tapped Shaffer to play piano for the sketches.
