Trivia: The world’s oldest operational locomotive goes by what name?
Spruce Goose
Silver Bullet
Old Reliable
Fairy Queen
The correct answer is Fairy Queen
So why is this answer correct? : In 1855, two years after India’s railway system was introduced, a grand locomotive named “Fairy Queen” made its first ride. The train was manufactured in England during the Industrial Revolution, and its first task was to haul mail trains. In 1972, the Fairy Queen was given heritage status and declared a national treasure in India. Today, that steam locomotive spends most of its time at the Rewari Railway Heritage Museum, but it still makes the occasional trip between New Delhi and Alwar.
