So why is this answer correct? : Although January, June, and March are named after Janus, Juno, and Mars, respectively, October simply translates to “eight month” in Latin. However, today October is the 10th month of the year, so what happened? Legend says that Romulus, the mythic co-founder of Rome, originally instituted a 10-month calendar that began in March, making October the eighth month. Eventually, Ianuarius and Februarius were added, and those two additions threw the Roman’s numerical month names out of whack.
