The Quiz: Which Wonder of the Ancient World was built in then-Persian territory?
Lighthouse of Alexandria
Temple of Artemis
Mausoleum at Halicarnassus
Colossus of Rhodes
Around the year 350 BCE, Mausolus, the governing satrap of Caria, had a massive tomb built for himself. The marble structure, which stood in what is now Turkey, was so immense and ornate that it was named one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Unfortunately, the mausoleum is no longer standing, having been destroyed by an earthquake sometime around the 13th century CE.
The correct answer to this quiz is Mausoleum at Halicarnassus.
