The Quiz: An animal named Kavana inspired what Raffi song?
Baby Beluga
Incy Wincy Spider
Baa Baa Back Sheep
Pop Goes the Weasel
Before there was Baby Shark, there was Baby Beluga. In 1979, popular children’s musician Raffi Cavoukian visited the Vancouver Aquarium and was inspired by Kavana, the resident baby beluga whale. He said interacting with the whale, with the help of Kavana’s trainer, had a lifelong effect on him. Though the whale was in captivity, Raffi wrote about the creature in the deep blue sea, swimming free. The song boosted the real Kavana’s popularity, and it’s estimated 30 million people visited her. She even appeared on a Canadian postage stamp celebrating the aquarium’s 50th anniversary.
The correct answer to this quiz is Baby Beluga.
